Died at his residence on Mossy Creek, Jefferson county, Tennessee on the 28th February, 1847, George Branner, Esq. Brother Branner was born in Shenandoah county, Va., on the 11th day of July, 1796. When young his father moved to Jefferson county, where the deceased lived till his death.

During his life he held several responsible offices, the duties of which he discharged promptly and faithfully. He professed religion and attached himself to the M E Church in 1833, of which he was an acceptable member till death. Ministers and members of different religious denominations had free access to his house and table and in support of the gospel he was liberal.

He has left a wife and ten children with numerous relations and friends to mourn their loss, and long will it be felt in Mossy Creek. Brother Branner was afflicted for three months. He bore his suffering without a murmur and was frequently heard to praise and bless God and two days before he died he exclaimed, "Bless God." His widow and several of his children are members of the church and doubtless are trying to make their calling and election sure. . .
