Died on the 25th ult., at his residence in Grainger county, after a severe illness of six weeks, Mr. Lemuel McBee, in the 60th year of his age.
In all the vicissitudes of life and in all the relations which he sustained to society, Mr. McBee uniformly preserved an exceptionable character as a man and a citizen. He was an agreeable neighbor, an affectionate husband, a provident father and an honest man.
Though the deceased had never attached himself to the visible church, he died with the brightest assurance of a happy and blissful eternity. And though surrounded by kind friends, affectionate relatives, a numerous and loving family and all that could render life desirable, he met his fate with perfect resignation and endured his last great sufferings with extraordinary patience and fortitude. He has left an aged and sorrowing widow, whose only consolation must be that her loss is his infinite gain.
