Mr. Walter Newman, formerly a letter carrier in the Knoxville post office, president of the Carrier’s Union and a member of the Civil Service Commission, died yesterday morning at 1 o'clock at his home in Strawberry Plains.
Deceased had to leave his vocation three months since owing to consumption which complaint caused his death. He was twenty years of age. Funeral at Pleasant Hill Cemetery this morning at 10:30 o'clock. A number of Knoxville people will attend the funeral [remainder not transcribed].
