Mossy Creek – Perhaps the saddest death to occur in Mossy Creek for sometime was the death today of Mrs. J. M. Burnett, which occurred at the young lady's home, which is conducted by her mother, Mrs. H. S. Burnett.

Mrs. Burnett was the bride of a year having been married to Rev. J. M. Burnett, professor of Greek in Carson-Newman College, at her home in Richmond, Va.; on August 9th, 1894, where she was a charming and loved social leader and enthusiastic member of the Baptist Church.

Since Mrs. Burnett has made her home here she has made friends who are stricken with grief to learn of her sudden death.

Mrs. Burnett was taken seriously ill on Saturday night and has had the constant attendance of her mother, Mrs. Sands of Richmond, many loving friends and Drs. Tittsworth, Donohoe and Ellers of Mossy Creek and Ristine of Knoxville. At 4 o'clock this morning her little son was born and at 11 o'clock she was dead.

The remains will be taken to Richmond tonight on No. 4 and funeral services will occur at the First Baptist church there tomorrow.
