The Eckels are of German descent and came to the United States and settled about the close of the Revolutionary War, and believed to have landed at Baltimore, MD, and from there radiated to different parts of the Country. Peter Eckel, father of William H. Eckel, came to Tennessee about the year 1800 and located near White Pine, Jefferson County, about the Head Waters of Copeland Creek. There came about the same time George Michael, John, and Catherine Swingle. Peter became enamored of Catherine, and they were married April 8, 1802, and settled down to real life. The date of Peter's birth is unknown.
Catherine, Peter Eckel, Sr, wife, was born Jan. 7, 1779; to them were born eight sons and four daughters as follows:

MARRIAGES
Charles E. Eckel married Nancy Thomas Aug. 21, 1835.
To them was born two sons and three daughters, James, Catherine, Sarah,
and Mary Ann. Charles died Feb. 29, 1893.
George S. Eckel married Jane Harrison April 6, 1837. To them were born
three sons, and five daughters. Elizabeth, Catherine, Thomas, Sarah,
Joseph, Susan, George, Ida, and Luther.
George died July 29, 1886.
Catherine married Russell Walker March 31, 1841. To them was born one
son, Peter Eckel, Catherine died Aug. 12, 1842.
Peter married Mary H. Sharp, Jan. 2, 1849. To them were born two sons
and two daughters, George, Ann, Catherine, and James Alexander.

Peter Eckel died Dec. 21, 1885
MARRIAGES
Joseph Eckel married Mary G. Long Jan. 2, 1849.
To them was born one daughter, Eliza Jane, who married second time
Sarah Minnis.
Joseph died Oct. 24, 1899.
William H. Eckel married Priscilla R. Moser NOv. 25, 1841. To them
were born seven sons and two daughters, Alexander, John, Samuel, William,,
Julia, Peter, Phillip, Hugh, Sarah Eliza and Augusta.
William died Jan. 2, 1894
Priscilla died Sept. 20, 1874
Thomas R. married Maria Jarnagin Oct. 9, 1849. To them was born two
daughters, Mary and Jennie,
Married Harriet Childton to them was born one son and two daughters,
Eugene, Harriet and Alice.
Thomas Eckel died Oct. 11, 1895
Alexander Perry married Mary Elizabeth Hill on Nov. 10, 1847, to them
was born one son and one daughter, Matilda Hill and Charles Eugene,
Alexander died Dec. 17, 1906.
Susan married Samuel Lungston Feb. 25, 1836. To them was born one son
and one daughter, George and Catherine.
Susan died Sept. 13, 1890.
Maria married Russell Walker (second wife) Maria died Oct. 6, 1864.
Amelia married Samuel Carson.

Peter Samuel Balckburn was born Nov. 16, 1887

John Blackburn was born June 1, 1894, and died Dec. 4, 1899.
Peter Phillip Eckel, son of William Eckel born Feb. 27, 1854.
Hugh
Eckel was born Feb. 10, 1857. He married Emma Rozilia Henry,
May 8, 1878. To them was born one son and 8 daughters.
Henry Virgil Eckel was born Nov. 12, 1879. He died May 21, 1903, from
injuries in the Railroad yards.
Silas McRay was born Sept. 12, 1882. He died July 9, 1884.
Elizabeth Richards was born Feb. 14, 1885. She married William Rule,
Aug. 27, 1908.
Mary Leona was born Nov. 13, 1887. She married Raymond Worsham,
June 8, 1910. To them have been born two sons and one daughter.
Hugh Eckel, Jr, was born Feb. 10, 1911.
Raymond Walker was born Dec.
26, 1913.
Mary Rose was born May 12, 1916.
Nanny Bell Eckel was born Sept. 13, 1889.
She married Eugene Leon Fender, Jan. 28, 1908.
William Hugh was born Nov. 5, 1896. He was killed in France Oct. 9,
1918.
Ray Eudorer Eckel was born Sept. 21, 1899.
She married Alfred Warner Ogden Aug. 6, 1918.
Julia Ruth was born Jan. 2, 1902
Sarah Eliza Eckel was a daughter of Wm. H. Eckel.
She married George Swingle Felkner, Oct. 22, 1884. To them were born
two sons and three daughters.
George E. Felknor (sic) was born Aug. 21, 1885.
He married Mary Adelia Bearden Jan. 12, 1913.
To them have been born two sons, George Eckel, Jr, was born Aug. 21,
1915. William Bearden born July 31, 1919.
Sarah Etta Felknor (sic) was born Jan. 26, 1887
Nellie Mae Felknor was born May 30, 1890. She died.
Edith William was born Aug. 22, 1892
Hugh LaFayette was born June 13, 1897
Augustine Eckel was born Nov. 17, 1862
Amelia died March 1841
Samuel Eckel married an English Lady. To them was born one son, nothing
known of him, Samuel died in 1860. His wife returned to England.
William H. Eckel in his young manhood apprenticed himself
to John M. Moser a widely known Millwright. After serving his apprenticeship
he
was presented with a fine set of tools. He continued to work
with his Master until his health failed and also the health of his
Master,
then they retired to their farms and ramained till death. William
H. Eckel married Priscilla Richards Moser Nov. 25, 1841. Alexander,
son
of William H. Eckel, married Mary Rawlings, Nov. 15, 1870. Mary
was born Feb. 26, 1849. To them was born one son, Herbert Odas,
Oct. 1, 1871. He married Elizabeth Moe Wynn, June 22, 1896. She
was born Dec.
26, 1875. To them was born four sons and two daughters.
Edna Ruth, born March 27, 1897. Herbert Wynn born Aug. 11, 1899.
Nellie Robertson was born Aug. 10, 1901. She married Eugene Robertson,
Aug.
3, 1918. To them was born

John was born Oct. 6, 1844. He died March 27, 1867.

Julia was born Aug. 28, 1851, and died June 24, 1921.
John Blackburn died Sept. 19, 1920.
Julia Eckel married John Blackburn Nov. 16, 1870. To them was born
three sons and six daughters.
Priscilla Velma was born March 12, 1872. She married Melville Grant
Sloot Oct. 19, 1897. To them was born two daughters, Mary Matilda,
Nov. 4, 1898, she married Charles T. Hale.
Helen Sloot was born Aug. 18, 1907. Eliza Blackburn was born Sept.
2, 1874. Martha Miranda Blackburn was born Aug. 1877. She married
Joseph Newman, Nov. 1, 1899.
To them have been born one son and three daughters.
Pauline was born July 10, 1905, Cecil was born Nov. 3, 1908
Jennie Reed was born March 18, 1916. Julia Eckel was born March 10,
1919. William Blackburn was born June 28, 1880.
He married Sarah Henderson Bettis, Nov. 16, 1887. They have one daughter,
Della Love, born Sept. 27, 1888.
Peter Eckel died Dec. 4, 1846.
Catherine Eckel, his wife, died Dec. 29, 1863.
