J. H. Caldwell, Esq., one of the best citizens of Jefferson County, died at his home, Strawberry Plains, yesterday afternoon.

He was for many years chairman of the county court of Jefferson county and it is largely due to his wisdom that the county stands highest in Tennessee in the matter of finances. He was a devout and consistent member of the Presbyterian church, a true Christian and a good citizen.

The funeral will take place at Strawberry Plains at 2 o’clock today. Friends of the deceased and members of the Masonic order are invited to attend.
