F. B. Cowan, one of the most prominent citizens of Jefferson County and one of the best farmers in East Tennessee, died Monday night at pneumonia at his residence, Beaver Dam, on the French Broad.

He was nearly sixty years of age, a bachelor and quite wealthy. He lived alone on his magnificent plantation, honored and respected by all. He was a good man in all the term implies and if he ever had an enemy on earth on one knew it.
