Death of Henry Catlett

New Market – Henry Catlett died after a long struggle with consumption.

Mr. Henry Catlett was an old and respected citizen of East Tennessee, having lived in Sevier, Blount and Jefferson counties all his life. He came here with his family from Mossy Creek four or five years ago and as is our custom we gave him a hearty welcome. Twice since that time we have sympathized with him when the hand of affliction was laid upon them and now while they are bending under this third and greatest sorrow we are ready to console and comfort them as much as is in our power.

Mr. Catlett was a man whose interest centered around his home and his loved ones, but while this was true, he was already ready and willing to lend a helping hand to the sick and distressed. Quietly and undemonstratively he has helped the poor and needy and he was an active member of the Baptist Church and when his hour of death drew nigh, he was ready and willing to go.

He leaves a wife, well advanced in years, two sons, and two daughters to mourn his loss and several brothers and sisters. The funeral will take place sometime tomorrow and the body will be interred in the Baptist cemetery at Mossy Creek.
