Dandridge -- Wednesday at the home of Mr. Anthony Caldwell, twelve miles west of here, Miss Rosa Corbett, of near this town, was washing, when by some means her clothing took fire.

Losing her presence of mind, instead of jumping into the large spring at the wash place, she ran towards the house, thus fanning the flames so that she was most fearfully burned and after lingering in great agony, died at about midnight or shortly afterwards.

She was the daughter of Mr. Shade Corbett, living just beyond town, a young girl of 18 to 20, just blooming into womanhood and her sad death has cast a gloom over a large circle of friends. Mr. Corbett, himself is confined to his bed, being quite ill.
