New Market, Tenn. February 1 – The earthly remains of Mr. E. S. Pierce were laid to rest in the cemetery in this place on yesterday. He was one of our oldest citizens. Had he lived until the 31st of January, he would have been seventy-two years old. A rather singular combination occurs in his life. Born January 31, 1820, married January 29, 1846, died January 30, 1892 and consigned to the tomb, January 31, 1892. Mr. Pierce was an honest upright gentleman, a respected citizen and a consistent Christian man, being a member of the denomination of Friends. He leaves a wife, one son, Dr. J. M. Pierce of Rogersville and one daughter, Mrs. W. B. Minnis of this place who mourn the loss of husband and father.
