James L Williams died at his home, 1405 Pine Street, yesterday morning at about 10:15 o'clock of typhoid fever. He had suffered with a severe attack of the disease and had commenced to recover. He was so anxious to get to work that he exposed himself too soon and suffered a relapse, which proved fatal. He was a young lawyer about 31 years of age and came here from Jefferson County some two or three years ago. He was a sober and industrious man and stood in the high esteem of all who knew him. He had an uphill road after coming to Knoxville as he studied law and at the same time had to work hard to support a wife and five children who survive him. He was a member of the firm of Williams & Williams, Sedgwick block. Source: The Knoxville Daily Journal, Sunday, November 12, 1893 Transcribed by Robert McGinnis |
