Transcribed by Robert McGinnis and used with his permission. Source: The Knoxville Daily Journal -- Saturday, February 4, 1893 The remains of Charley Davis, the young telegraph operator who was accidentally shot in Atlanta, while visiting his brother, will be brought to New Market, his home, this afternoon for burial. It is a very sad affair. He was a promising boy just entering manhood, and a devoted son. His death is universally regretted. His parents and brother and especially his mother, who is almost heart-broken, have the sympathy of everyone. |
