Jefferson County, formed in 1792 from Hawkinsand Greene Counties, is located in East Tennessee, one of the state's three "grand divisions."   Jefferson is bordered by "sister" counties Knox and Grainger, and its "children," Cocke, Sevier, and Hamblen Counties.
