The following list contains a description of documents ready for transcription. Each document is in either PDF format or image (JPG, TIF, or PNG) format and can be downloaded by the volunteer(s).

You do not have to know Web programming or languages! The Webmistress can accept most word-processing, spreadsheet, and database formats. Advanced knowledge of software is not important. Consistency is! For instance, knowing to use tabs instead of spaces makes conversion much easier for Web presentation. Likewise, knowing to type information in one long column, rather than multiple columns as it might have appeared in the original document, reduces the amount of time required to format documents for the Web.

If two or more individuals would like to share work on a document, please let us know.

Important Consideration:  Transcriptions are only a finding aid. We all know researchers must consult original documents whenever they are available. However, it is important to be diligent in both typing and proofreading transcribed work.

To volunteer:  E-mail the Webmistress from the Contact Us link in the menu.
